About

Joerg HeberI am the Deputy Editor of the science journal Nature Communications. Having studied physics at the University of Erlangen in Germany, I obtained my PhD from Imperial College London in 2000. I then held research positions at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey and the University of Marburg  in Germany before I joined Nature Publishing Group in 2005 as an editor at Nature Materials, and have been at Nature Communications since October 2012.

In my role as Deputy Editor of a leading multidisciplinary scientific journal I see world-class science and have established close ties to many leading scientists across all the physical sciences. In the past have published in-depth news features in magazines such as Nature and New Scientist. In 2010, I spent two months as a visiting professor at The University of Tokyo, teaching science communication.
